Sky Italia names programming boss
Sky Italia has appointed former Warner Bros. exec Nicola Maccanico as its chief of programming.
The hire follows the departure of Andrea Scrosati, who recently left the Italian broadcaster to join Fremantlemedia as COO out of London in November.
Maccanico previously served as European affairs manager for Sky Italia before joining Warner Bros., where he was managing director.
He departed Warner Bros. in 2016 to lead Sky Italia’s theatrical distribution unit Vision Distribution.
Maccanico will serve as executive VP of programming at Sky Italia, with oversight of all content except sports and news at the Comcast-owned broadcaster.
He will also have temporary oversight of Vision Distribution as chair. He set up the business in 2016 with Scrosati as a JV between Sky Italia and five independent Italian prodcos.
Sky Italia’s forthcoming titles include global cocaine thriller ZeroZeroZero, which is based on journalist Roberto Saviano, and financial thriller Devils.
