Cartoon Forum: Netflix up for Cartoon Tribute for the first time
Netflix is up for its inaugural Cartoon Tribute award at Cartoon Forum, the annual animation pitching event in Toulouse, France.
Netflix is one of five broadcasters and streaming services up for a Broadcaster of the Year award. Italian channel Deakids, Finnish broadcasting company YLE, the UK’s kids app Hopster and French channel TF1 are also up for the award.
Cartoon Tribute prizes are also awarded for the Investor/Distributor of the Year and Producer of the Year.
Gaumont Distribution TV, 9 Story Distribution International, Connectoon and Miam! Animation are up for the Distributor of the Year award this year.
Akkord Film Produktion, Anima Kitchent Media, Folimage, Ink and Light and The Illuminated Film Company are up for Producer of the Year.
The award winners will be announced on Thursday (September 13).
Netflix attended Cartoon Forum for the first time last year. Jill Sanford, Netflix’s kids and family creative development exec was in attendance.
This year, Sanford is joined by colleagues Dominique Bazay, Netflix director of content acquisitions, Josh Fisher, creative executive for kids and family, and Alexi Wheeler, who has just moved over from Nickelodeon International to join as VP of animation.
