Netflix orders del Toro horror series, renews Lost In Space
Netflix has unveiled plans for its first ever horror anthology series, to be fronted by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. Entitled Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight, the series will present “a collection of personally curated stories that are both equally sophisticated and horrific,” according to Netflix.
Guillermo del Toro, who won Best Director and Best Picture for The Shape Of Water at this year’s Oscars, will write and direct some episodes. In addition, he will hand pick a team of the genre’s best writers and exciting filmmakers to bring his selection of stories to life. His production team on the series will include J. Miles Dale, producer of The Shape Of Water, and Exile Entertainment’s Gary Ungar
The show is del Toro’s second collaboration with Netflix following the animated series Trollhunters, which returns for a third season on May 25. His horror genre credentials are without question, including titles such as Blade II, Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army.
Netflix is expected to spend $8 billion on content in 2018. Among other new content announcements this week include a greenlight for a second series of sci-fi reboot series Lost In Space (pictured).
