Channel 5 & eOne team for two titles
Entertainment One has reached a licensing deal with the UK’s Channel 5 for the female-driven detective series The Detail and Kiefer Sutherland-led drama Designated Survivor (right).
The Detail is a ten-episode ensemble drama that centers around three fiercely talented female homicide investigators. Angela Griffin (Brief Encounters), Shenae Grimes-Beech (90210) and Wendy Crawson (Saving Hope) will all lead in the series.
Designated Survivor follows Sutherland as Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who is suddenly appointed President of the United States. The deal was brokered by Patrick Roberts, VP of international sales at eOne and Katie Keenan, VP and head of acquisitions at Channel 5.
VIMN and Channel 5 acting acquisitions and channel manager, Cherry Yeandle, also helped to broker the deal.
“We are delighted to see so many of our partners acquiring The Detail, and have no doubt that this female led, contemporary, police procedural will deliver primetime success as it rolls out across the region,” said Dan Gopal, eOne’s executive vice president of sales for EMEA and international distribution.
