Netflix pounces on former CW pilot
Streaming service Netflix has moved quickly to take dark comedy Insatiable, which The CW passed on, to series.
According to various US trades, Netflix is close to a deal with CBS Television Studios for the show, which comes from writers Lauren Gussis (Dexter).
The series came close to a series pick up at CBS-backed US network The CW, but was ultimately passed over with Valor and Dynasty becoming the other CBS TV Studios series joining the network.
Gussis created Insatiable with Ryan Seacrest Productions and Storied Media Group.
The series follows a disgraced lawyer-turned-beauty pageant coach, who takes on a vengeful, bullied teenager as a client. Dallas Roberts and Debby Ryan star.
Andrew Fleming directed the pilot, with Ryan Seacrest, Nina Wass and Andrea Shay executive producing for RSP, and Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim doing the same for Storied Media.
Netflix and CBS TV Studios couldn’t be reached for comment before press time.
