Natalie VinetCanada’s Proper Rights has sold more than 250 hours of programming, including presales to Foxtel and Discovery Networks International.

Last Stop Garage, an in-house 12x30mins unscripted series from Proper Television, went to Australian paycaster Foxtel and Discovery in Spain, Italy, France, the UK and Latin America.

Other deals since MIPTV have seen A+E Networks buy 12x30mins Tougher Than it Looks? for Iberia and Australia, and Viasat take it for Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Africa.

Seven Network in Australia, Africa One, Austria’s Servus TV, National Geographic in India and Documentary Channel in Canada were among the other buyers.

“At our recent trip to MIPTV, we found the market to be very robust, with a noticeable uptick in the appetite for quality factual, lifestyle and documentary programming,” said Natalie Vinet, VP of Proper Rights.

The deals are particularly noticeable as they come soon after the unexpected passing of Proper founder and CEO Guy O’Sullivan.

Proper said all staff at the Toronto-based business were “committed to honouring his legacy by continuing to create television we can all be proud of” in a statement after his death.
