Real World prodco pacts with Korea’s Signal
Bunim/Murray Productions has signed a joint development deal with South Korea’s Signal Entertainment Group.
This will see The Real World producer BMP expanding into Asia by developing new formats with Signal, which has produced more than 60 programmes since 2005.
BMP is also behind shows such as E!’s The Simple Life, Lifetime’s Project Runway, Netflix’s Bill Nye Saves the World and HBO’s Autism: The Musical.
Signal’s most well known shows include Mnet’s I Can See Your Voice, which Global Agency sells internationally, and JTBC’s Take Care of My Fridge.
“Signal is a creative and production powerhouse run by extremely talented CEO Michael Kim who knows the global media space extremely well,” said BMP chairman and CEO Gil Goldschein. “I am excited about the opportunity to share our formats that can travel to South Korea and China as well as the chance to bring local South Korean formats to the US market.”
“As technology and new platforms bring people of the world closer to each other, there is more opportunity for great content to travel farther and cross cultural borders,” said Signal chairman and Michael Kim.
“I am truly excited about this partnership with Bunim/Murray and firmly believe that the exchange of creative ideas between the two companies will attract new audiences across multiple territories.”
Yesterday, BMP’s parent, Banijay Group, settled its dispute with FremantleMedia-owned Abot Hamieri over the likeness of their shows All Against 1 and Best of All.
