Ex-BBC producer becomes S4C factual chief
Welsh pubcaster S4C has hired a former BBC producer to become its content commissioner for factual programming.
Llinos Wynne joins after six years as a freelancer, and will divide her time between S4C’s headquarters in Cardiff and its office in Caernarfon.
Her hire comes after current incumbent Llion Iwan became S4C’s head of content distribution after nearly five years in the post.
Prior to her freelance career, Wynne worked at the UK pubcaster, the BBC, for more than 20 years in TV and radio production.
S4C describes her as a specialist in entertainment and serious factual programmes. She has produced Welsh-language shows for the broadcaster including Jude Cissé and Mamwlad, and English-language shows such as Welsh Towns, A Garden in Snowdonia and Coming Home for the BBC.
“I’m conscious that it will be a challenge at times, but the channel has huge potential, and my aim as factual commissioner will be to include relevant and varied programmes in S4C’s schedule,” said Wynne.
“Llinos has extensive and varied skills in the world of producing and broadcasting which will be a huge asset to the channel, and I look forward to seeing Llinos make her mark as a factual commissioner in what will be a challenging and exciting period for S4C,” added S4C director of content Amanda Rees, who joined last year.
In December, S4C announced its CEO, Ian Jones, was stepping down after three years.
Jones is well known in international TV circles for his time at A+E Networks, National Geographic and Target Entertainment.
