UKTV gets Unspun with political comedy
British multichannel broadcaster UKTV has commissioned a 6x60mins political comedy for its Dave network.
Unspun with Matt Forde is billed as an “up-to-date, fearless weekly satirical show” that features reactions to the news agenda. “I’m simultaneously horrified and entertained by the state of British politics so I can’t wait to start making Unspun,” said Forde, an upcoming comic talent.
UKTV director of commissioning Richard Watsham said the series’ order marked a “significant step for the maturity of UKTV originations that we can take on such a topical and frankly, important series”.
Avalon Television will produce the show, with Jon Thoday and Richard Allen-Turner executive producing. UKTV’s deputy director of commissioning, Hilary Rosen, does the same for the BBC Worldwide- and Scripps Networks International-owned UKTV.
