Netflix agrees Lat Am partnership with Millicom
Netflix has signed a deal with Millicom that will see its app pre-loaded on phones for Tigo mobile customers in Latin America.
Millicom’s Tigo and TigoUNE customers will find the Netflix app preloaded on Android smartphones.
Customers who buy select TigoSmart mobile and TigoStar residential plans will also receive a prepaid Netflix subscription as part of a promotional offer.
The Netflix deal will be offered in addition to Tigo’s TigoSports and TigoMusic entertainment packages.
“By partnering with Millicom we’re making it even easier for many TV fans and movie lovers in Latin America to enjoy Netflix at home and on the go,” said Netflix director of business development Paul Perryman.
Through Tigo and TigoUNE, Millicom claims to serve more than 2.5 million homes connected and more than 32 million mobile customers across Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Paraguay.
Millicom said it plans to extend its cable network to more than ten million homes to become the second largest cable provider across its footprint.
It claimed that the Netflix agreement “will enable Tigo to further enhance its leading bundle of television, internet, and mobile services and continue to grow its appeal to its high value customers.”
