Televisa, Netflix deals for Masha toon
A spin-off from Russian-produced toon series Masha and the Bear has launched on Netflix in several territories.
The Masha shows are produced by Russian studio Animaccord, and the main Masha and the Bear is one of the most popular kids shows on Netflix, and has also registered over a billion YouTube views.
Netflix has now added the Masha’s Tales series to its service in the UK, US and Canada.
In other news, Mexican media giant Televisa has acquired the series for its preschool offering on Channel 5.
Televisa’s general director of consumer products, Maca Rotter, said: “We are thrilled to have Masha and the Bear as part of the preschool slot of Channel 5. This type of content is rarely seen [in Mexico], actually I don’t remember seeing a property like this.”
Masha, which is based on a Russian folk tale, is distributed by Ink Global. Earlier this week the distributor announced a sale for Masha’s Tales in Italy.
