Ex-Starz buyer joins expanding distributor
Canada-based distributor 108 Media has hired Starz’s former VP, programme acquisitions, Nancy Silverstone.
Her appointment as head of acquisitions and content strategy comes as 108, which also has a base in Tokyo, plans to make a series of senior hires.
Silverstone left Starz in June 2014, having joined in the late 20th century.
There she had acquired programming and formats, while also developing coproductions for the Starz and Encore premium cable channels. She has also worked as manager of film programming for HBO, buying for the Time Warner channel’s international networks.
At 108, Silverstone will look to increase the firm’s reach across broadcast and cable networks, digital and OTT platforms, home entertainment and theatrical.
“With Nancy and her eye for unique content we hope to give a voice to fresh, innovative content on a global scale,” said 108 founder and CEO Abhi Rastogi.
“Nancy is in the perfect position to bridge the gap between content creators and the commercial potential of their products. Nancy knows the independent film, television and media market inside out, and is brilliantly poised and equipped to realise this potential both for the content creator and 108 Media.”
