Broadcasters buy into Lego’s secret doc
A raft of international broadcasters have acquired The Secret World of Lego, the one-off doc that goes inside the toy manufacturers headquarters.
The show is produced by UK indie Waddell Media and distributed by Cineflix Rights, which has struck the new international deals.
In the US National Geographic has acquired the show. In Europe Cineflix has shopped the film to free-to-air broadcast RTL in the Netherlands, Kanal 5 in Sweden and Poland.
In Australasia pay broadcaster Foxtel has bought the show for Australia and pubcaster TVNZ for New Zealand.
The show goes inside Lego HQ and follows two fans of the toy brick brand as they visit the company’s base. It originally went out on Channel 4 in the UK winning its timeslot and almost doubling slot share.
Chris Bonney, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media said: “The Secret World of LEGO is proving to be hugely successful with broadcasters worldwide because it’s about a global superbrand everybody knows and reveals a hidden world viewers rarely get to see.”
He added: “It’s entertaining, informative, and works for a range of different international audiences from young to old as well as male and female.”
