Nick re-ups TF1 deal, sells 1000hrs to China
Viacom International Media Networks sealed a pair of major Nickelodeon content deals at MIPCOM last week.
In Europe, the international arm of Viacom has renewed an output deal with France’s largest broadcaster TF1. The agreement dates back to 2004 and has been renewed for a further three years.
In China, VIMN has sold a huge package of Nick content to China Mobile. The three-year deal spans 1,000 hours that will run on the China Mobile video-on-demand platform. It covers Nick animated titles including Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (top) and SpongeBob SquarePants.
Other MIPCOM programming deals, meanwhile, included the sale of of a 350-hour package to Russian free TV service 2×2, which includes animated series Penguins of Madagascar, Avatar, Kung Fu Panda (right) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
In Latin America, Nicaraguan free-to-air broadcaster Telenica and Costa Rica’s Canal 7 have signed branded block deals for Nickelodeon fare.
