Netflix reveals Spain, Portugal, Italy launch dates
Netflix will launch in Spain on October 20, in Portugal on October 21 and in Italy on October 22 it has confirmed.
Subscribers in each of the countries will be able to choose between three packages – basic, standard and premium, priced at €7.99 (US$8.91), €9.99 and €11.99 respectively.
The basic package will let users run one streaming session at a time in standard definition, the standard package allows for two simultaneous streams in HD, while premium subscribers can watch up to four streams at time in Ultra HD, 4K.
Netflix will be available to view on smart TVs, tablets, smartphones, computers, Apple TV and Chromecast devices and a number of web-connected video game consoles and set-top boxes.
An agreement with Vodafone Spain means Netflix will also be available on the Vodafone TV service in Spain.
The SVOD service has struck a similar deal with Telecom Italia, meaning that TIM customers can access the service through the TIMvision set-top box.
In Italy, Vodafone will also offer several exclusive promotions that will include Netflix subscriptions with the purchase of fibre or 4G services.
Customers in all three countries will be able to buy Netflix gift cards at authorised retailers and will be able to watch a range of movies and series, including Netflix originals like Marvel’s Daredevil, Sense8, Bloodline, Grace and Frankie, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Marco Polo and Narcos (pictured).
Netflix first confirmed that it plans to launch in Spain, Portugal and Italy in June.
