Awesomeness starts on YouTube film
Digital kids content specialist Awesomeness has started production on Dance Camp, a new feature film that will be released on YouTube.
The movie will be the first to come out a recent deal between DreamWorks-owned Awesomeness and Google-owned YouTube.
The song and dance film will be produced by Jon M. Chu (Step Up 3-D) and is being directed by female duo Bert & Bertie.
“With Dance Camp, we are combining some of today’s most popular YouTube stars with dance – one of the most watched genres on the platform,” said Kelly Merryman, vice president of Content Partnerships, YouTube. “AwesomenessTV has a proven track record of creating content that audiences love and our multi-film collaboration will deliver several movies over the next few years aimed at a global fanbase.”
Awesomeness Films credits include Smosh: The Movie, which opened as the top comedy on iTunes, and Expelled, which Awesomeness said was the number one social movie of 2014.
