Hulu to offer discounted Showtime
US streaming service Hulu will offer a discounted version of cable channel Showtime’s online service.
The deal marks the first premium service that broadcaster-backed Hulu will offer its subscribers.
As of July 12, Hulu subs will be able to add the service to their package for US$8.99 a month, compared to non-subs, who have to pay US$10.99 to access shows such as Ray Donovan, Homeland and Masters of Sex.
Showtime shows will be offered through the Hulu app, connected devices and televisions and hulu.com.
CBS-owned Showtime unveiled its OTT service earlier this month, and soon after revealed it would be available on the Roku and PlayStation platforms.
The news also follows the announcement David Nevins will replace the long-serving Matthew Blank as Showtime CEO next year.
