South Korean group buys Brazilian 4K film
South Korean media group EPG has licensed a 4K feature film from Brazilian broadcaster Globo.
The deal is for Time and the Wind, which follows two 19th Century families from Santa Fé who are mortal enemies, and all other movies in this year’s Globo movie catalogue, including Trust, The Invisible Woman and Men Are From Mars… and That’s Where I’m Going!.
Globo and EPG have been conducting business together for some time, and today’s agreement is not the first between them this year.
“We think that Ultra High Definition will be a main stream of broadcasting market in the near future and will be a new blue ocean,” said Johwang Suh, CEO at EPG. “The Time and The Wind has an important meaning to us in the way that it will be the first step of a new business era.
“We hope that starting with this content, we can introduce more good UHD contents from Globo and it will make us take an initiative in UHD content market and contribute to the development of the UHD broadcasting environment of Korea.”
