Spike inks $7 Bucks deal with The Rock
US cable net Spike has struck a development deal with $7 Bucks, the US prodco run by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Dany Garcia.
The Viacom net and $7 Bucks will make big live events, specials, sports shows and initiatives surrounding US troops and veterans.
Johnson said: “Over the next year and beyond we’re going to deliver compelling and powerful programming to entertain, inspire and provide just the right amount of shock and awe to [Spike’s] growing audience base.”
$7 Bucks’ credits include upcoming HBO series Ballers and TNT’s Wake Up Call.
Separately, Spike is teaming with Legendary for a new scripted series Emergency Broadcast. It will follow a team of first-responders who respond to crises and disasters.
Based on an idea from Legendary boss Thomas Tull, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War author Max Brooks is also attached as a consultant.
