Beta prodco hires production vet for new office
A production subsidiary of Jan Mojto’s Beta Film has hired a German production veteran to open a Cologne office.
Munich-based Dreamtool Entertainment will open the Cologne office with Jurgen Schuster in charge. He will be a partner in the Dreamtool business, which is primarily a feature film producer but also creates scripted television shows, working alongside founders Stefan Raiser and Felix Zackor.
Beta acquired a 49% stake in Dreamtool in 2008, but the comany said it now has a majority share. Dreamtool is known for the German TV Award-winning Prince Charming and large feature films such as The Charlemagne Code.
Schuster, who serves as an adviser to Beta, previously worked for German producers including teamWorx, UFA Cinema and Zeitsprung Pictures. He counts Generation War, which Beta sells internationally, among his credits.
Mojto said Schuster’s hire meant Dreamtool was “in an excellent position to produce high production values and internationally competitive productions out of Germany”.
