Orange Smarty hires Electric Sky’s Kemp
Karen Young’s fledgling distributor, Orange Smarty, has brought in Amy Kemp as its first hire since launch.
The move reunites the former Electric Sky executives, with Kemp named head of sales.
She held the same role for a decade at Electric Sky, which went into administration last month. However, Orange Smarty said in a statement Kemp had resigned “some time” before the firm went under.
Kemp began her career at Eagle Rock Entertainment, where she worked on music and performance programming sales, before joining Electric Sky. At the latter, she was responsible for delivering more than £3 million (US$4.7 million) worth of deals each year.
“The business has been growing rapidly and has enjoyed a phenomenal few months, including post-Mip deals closed in more than 30 countries totalling over £200,000,” said Young. “Bringing Amy on board will help to build on this success and expand opportunity through new markets.”
UK-based Orange Smarty launched at MIPCOM in 2013. TBI was first to report on the company, which launched a year after Young left her post as commercial director at Electric Sky.
