CBC poaches Proper Rights VP for acquisitions
Canadian pubcaster the CBC has poached Jenna Bourdeau from local indie distributor Proper Rights.
Bourdeau will be senior director of acquisitions for the public broadcaster. The role will see her acquiring Canadian and international programming for CBC platforms.
Bourdeau will report to Sally Catto, the CBC’s general manager of programming. She was previously VP, distribution at Proper, which acquired the firm she co-founded, BuzzTaxi Communications, last year.
“I’m so pleased to have Jenna leading our acquisitions strategy at the CBC,” said Catto. “She is highly respected throughout the industry, both at home and abroad — I know that her strong creative instincts & leadership will be crucial as we continue to move our content strategy forward.”
Bourdeau co-founded BuzzTaxi with Natalie Vinet in 1999, and was co-president until Proper Rights parent Proper Television bought it in 2013.
