CBS orders two more US Big Brothers

CBS has greenlit two more seasons of Big Brother.

The US broadcast network’s order means the reality series will head into its seventeenth and eighteenth seasons on CBS, with the series bowing in summer 2015 and 2016 respectively.

The show started out in 2000 on CBS. The latest version averaged 7.6 million viewers for the channel.

Big Brother continues to be the one of the summer’s most dominant programmes,” said Chris Castallo, CBS executive VP, alternative programming. “With its one-of-a-kind format, coupled with its passionate, socially engaged fan base, no other show comes close to duplicating it.”

Big Brother companion show, Big Brother After Dark, has been renewed for 2015, but will go out on Pop, the CBS-owned cable net previously known as TVGN.

Endemol USA and Fly on the Wall Entertainment produce the US Big Brother.
