Netflix launches in Austria
Netflix has followed up its launches in France and Germany by adding Austria to the list of countries in which its streaming video-on-demand services is available.
The move means that Austrian consumers will have access to Netflix originals including Orange is the New Black and Bojack Horseman, as well as series airing for the first time in Austria including Fargo, From Dusk Till Dawn and Penny Dreadful.
Future originals to be made available include Marco Polo, Marvel’s Daredevil and Sense8.
Austria viewers will also be able to view the first two seasons of House of Cards on the Netflix service.
German series on the service will include Stromberg, Pastewka and Der Tatortreiniger, while German films to be made available on Netflix include Keinohrhasen, Fortsetzung Zweiohrküken and the forthcoming Stromberg movie.
As elsewhere, the service will be available on computers, game consoles, Blu-ray players, selected home cinema systems and smart TVs, internet media players and smartphones and tablets.
“We are proud to bring the future of television to Austria,” CEO Reed Hastings said. “Austrian consumers now have instant access to a great selection of shows and movies anytime, anywhere.”
Hastings has said he aims to capture a third of households in Germany and Austria.
