Discovery inks programming pact with Gipsy Sisters EP

Discovery Studios, the in-house production arm of pay TV giant Discovery, has scored a deal to develop and produce programming with reality exec Shauna Thomas.

She is best known to Discovery network execs as executive producer for the past three seasons of TLC’s Gipsy Sisters, and has also worked on WEtv’s L.A. Hair, TruTV’s Hulk Hogan’s MCW and Bravo’s Launch My Line.

“Shauna’s accomplishments and relationships within the industry are a perfect complement to the Discovery Studios team and her collaboration with our arsenal of talented producers is sure to generate compelling, innovative programming for our clients,” said Lee Bartlett, president of Discovery Studios Group and Production.

Last week, Discovery announced Eileen O’Neill had been promoted to take on the Discovery Studios top job. Bartlett will remain with Discovery after the transition, with responsibilities including leading the company’s business affairs unit.
