Netflix tipped to take Seinfeld
Netflix is in talks to acquire classic comedy series Seinfeld, according to its creator and star Jerry Seinfeld.
The comic told fans on a live web chat that discussions are taking place with Netflix, with a view to the streaming service landing the hit show, which ran for nine seasons on broadcast net NBC, ending in 1998.
In response to a question from a fan asking whether the series would be made available through Netflix, Seinfeld responded: “You are a very smart and progressive person. These conversations are presently taking place.”
Seinfeld was produced by Warner Bros.-owned Castle Rock Entertainment for NBC and is distributed by Sony Pictures Television.
