Universal Channel books in drama with TNT’s The Librarians
Universal Channel has acquired international rights to upcoming drama series The Librarians.
The upcoming series is based on a TV movie franchise and will debut on US cable net TNT in December.
NBCUniversal’s Universal Channel will show it within 24 hours of the US TX in 100 international territories across Australia, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
The series, which is produced by US indie Electric Entertainment, stars Noah Wyle (Falling Skies) as the leader of a group that protects the world’s mystical treasures.
“An action-adventure drama, driven by a group of both daring and quirky characters, The Librarians is an exciting addition to Universal Channel’s programming line-up around the world,” commented Steve Patscheck, executive VP, programming, Universal Networks International.
