OTT service Wuaki seals HBO deal
Streaming and download-to-own service Wuaki has snagged a raft of HBO content after striking a UK content deal with the US premium cable net.
Wuaki, which is owned by Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten, will offer consumers in the UK titles including Game of Thrones, True Detective, Girls, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire and Veep (pictured), which will be available to buy and download for viewing on digital devices.
Wuaki said that more HBO titles will be added in the coming weeks.
HBO now has series for download on digital platforms including Wuaki, Blinkbox, Amazon and Google Play.
Colin Smith, director of international digital distribution for HBO, said: ““The digital retail landscape is an exciting space right now, and this is a great time to be adding a company like Wuaki.tv to the growing list of places you can purchase HBO content.”
Simon Homent, UK content director for Wuaki.tv added: “We’re very excited to add HBO to our UK offering to be one of the most complete movie and TV on-line video services in the market”.
