Return for HBO’s Comeback, Netflix’s Orange
American premium cable channel HBO has ordered a new limited season run of 2005 sitcom The Comeback, while in related renewal news SVOD service Netflix has renewed Orange is the New Black for the third time.
The Comeback, which Friends alumna Lisa Kudrow co-created and starred in, ran for one season nearly a decade ago, following an desperate ‘It Girl’, Valerie Cherish, as she prepares for a new comedy role.
Production on a new six-part run is beginning this month ahead of a fall run, with Kudrow reprising her role. She executive produces along with co-creator Michael Patrick King (2 Broke Girls) and Dan Bucatinsky.
“The Comeback holds a special place in the hearts of its many fans, including many of us here at HBO”, said Michael Lombardo, president of programming, HBO. “I can’t wait to find out what Valerie’s been up to since we last met.”
Meanwhile, Netflix has ordered a third season of female prison comedy-drama Orange is the New Black.
