Starz takes LeBron James drama to series

US cable network Starz has given a full series order to Survivor’s Remorse, the half-hour comedy from US basketball star LeBron James.

James, who plays for the Miami Heat, will exec produce the show along with Tom Werner, the ex-ABC programming exec and Casey Werner cofounder who launched series including Mork and Mindy and who is now chairman of the Boston Red Sox.

Starz fast-tracked the development of the project and has now given it a six-episode order with the series expected to bow this autumn. Starz will distribute it internationally.

The series will follow Cam Calloway, a basketball phenomena in his early twenties who is suddenly thrust into the limelight after signing a multi-million dollar contract with a professional basketball team in Atlanta.
