BBC One orders Compulsive Shoppers
UK terrestrial BBC One has commissioned a 1x60mins documentary looking at people with shopping addictions.
Britain’s Compulsive Shoppers (WT) will follow presenter Jasmine Harman as she looks into personal stories of shopping addiction and work with those affected to get to the bottom of the problem.
Twofour, which is merging with former BBC One controller Lorraine Heggessey’s Boom Pictures, will produce the doc. This comes after BBC One scored a peak audience of 3.8 million from the Twofour-produced three-partner Britain’s Biggest Hoarders in May last year.
Emma Willis, head of commissioning, documentaries for the BBC said: “We’re delighted how well Britain’s Biggest Hoarders performed so look forward to Jasmine’s take on an equally important subject. There is a sensitivity in Jasmine’s approach that allows her to get to the heart of extremely difficult subjects in a unique way.”
Twofour’s director of programmes Dan Adamson is executive producing alongside Bridget Sneyd and the BBC’s Tom Macdonald.
