More Jerry Seinfeld and original series for Crackle

Comedians in Cars Getting CoffeeCrackle has ordered another season of its signature show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee as well as several new and returning shows.

The Sony Pictures Television-owned online channel has just launched the third season of the web series in which comedian Jerry Seinfeld takes other comics for a car ride and coffee.

Sony produces the series and Seinfeld exec produces. Season three of the show features Louis CK, Tina Fey, Howard Stern and Jay Leno among others. The line-up for season four has not been confirmed.

Crackle also announced a new original series. Playing It Forward will be produced by Robert Downey Jr.’s prodco Team Downey and follow street performers, showcasing surprise street performances by some of the world’s biggest artists in unplanned, unexpected environments across the US. Music education charities and charities of the artist’s choice will benefit from a US$100,000 donation following the performances.

The first episode of Playing It Forward features a surprise show by singer and songwriter John Legend.

“Music is a shared passion among our viewers and we’re excited to open a door to some of the industry’s biggest artists, making them accessible to our audience – all while raising money and awareness for charity and music education,” said executive VP of Digital Networks at Sony Pictures Television and GM of Crackle, Eric Berger.

Crackle has also greenlit a second season of its original series Cleaners. The second run of the series, about a team of contract killers, will stretch to twelve thirty-minute episodes. Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage), Emily Osment (Hannah Montana), David Arquette (Scream), and Gina Gershon (Rescue Me) will all star.

There will also be a third season of another original series, Chosen. The six-episode run will continue the story of a family that becomes embroiled in a deadly game when they received mysterious boxes forcing them to kill.
