Channel 5 snaps up Doghouse’s Dog doc

UK free-to-air broadcaster Channel 5 has bought The Truth about Your Dog’s Food (fka What Are You Feeding Your Dog?), a new documentary looking at what people are feeding their canine pets.

Produced by London-based Doghouse Media, the one-off doc examines what goes into pet food, the different methods of feeding dog and asks specialists what it is best to feed canines.

Channel 5 said the doc will air amid growing incidence of dog obesity and increasing scepticism among dog owners about what goes into pet food.

Guy Davies, commissioning editor, factual for Channel 5 ordered the doc. He said: “We’re revealing some home truths about the dog food industry, and some more radical approaches from owners. Do we really know what we’re feeding our prized pets?”

Mark Adderley, executive producer for Doghouse said: “As a nation of dog lovers – and a nation of food lovers – it seems strange that we have never thrown the spotlight on the food we feed our dogs. Everyone loves their dogs – so it feels right to explore whether what we are feeding them is what they fully deserve.”
