October Films, Group M making Nile walk series

UK public broadcaster Channel 4 has ordered Walking the Nile, a series that will track writer and photographer Levison Wood’s year-long attempt to be the first person to walk the entire length of the river.

Levison will film the trip himself with people able to track the entire trip on social media and Channel 4’s website.

The 4,250 mile journey will take Levison through rainforest, desert, savannah and swamp.

Mark Atkin, multiplatform commissioning editor at Channel 4 said: “Online followers will have a rare opportunity to gain an up close and personal view of contemporary Africa, step by step, as Levison makes his way to the delta, sharing the highs and lows from his challenge in a parallel narrative to our own daily lives.”

The ensuing four-part TV series will be a coproduction between October Films and Group M Entertainment, the production arm of the media agency.
