Breaking Bad’s Gilligan signs new Sony deal
Vince Gilligan has signed a new overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, keeping the Breaking Bad creator with the studio for the foreseeable future.
Gilligan (above, right) was counted as the hottest free agent on the market after his previous SPT deal lapsed following the end of his critically acclaimed AMC crime drama but he has ultimately chose to stay with the Culver City-based studio.
“Vince is an incredible writer and partner, and he shares our vision for the business and for the kinds of projects we’re passionate about,” said SPT president of programming and production Jamie Erlicht. “There wasn’t a world where we weren’t making this deal.”
Gilligan is currently working on a Breaking Bad spin off titled Better Call Saul and a new CBS show, Battle Creek, both of which SPT is attached as producer.
