Tess Alps steps back from Thinkbox CEO role
Thinkbox, the marketing body for commercial television in the UK, has promoted managing director Lindsey Clay to CEO, with current chief executive Tess Alps to step back into a non-executive chairman role.
The changes come into effect from January 1, 2014, with Jeremy Tester, director of brand strategy at Sky Media, to also come in as the new chair of the Thinkbox board, taking over from Julia Jordan, UKTV’s executive director, business and operations.
The chairman of the board role is held for a year before being passing to another Thinkbox shareholder director.
Alps, who has led Thinkbox since 2006 and also became executive chairman last year, will work with the organisation two days a week in her new non-exec position.
Clay first joined Thinkbox in 2007 as marketing director, and was upped to managing director in 2011.
“Let there be no doubt; Lindsey is now in charge of Thinkbox,” said Alps. “She has been by my side leading the organisation since 2007, and all that we have achieved has been with her vital input. I couldn’t wish for anyone more brilliant to hand the precious reins over to and I’m thrilled that the shareholders agree. However, I shall still be involved and my devotion to getting TV a fair hearing will never diminish.”
