News brief: US cable channel order Pioneer shows

US cable networks HGTV, The Weather Channel and Science Channel have ordered new shows from the UK’s Pioneer Productions.

Extreme Homes is a 26x60mins series for HGTV, Strangest Weather on Earth is a 12x30mins show for Weather and How the Universe Works will an 8x60mins show for Science.

“These commissions span what Pioneer is best known for around the world – high quality, insightful programming,” said Pioneer’s senior VP, programming, Jeremy Dear. “What’s interesting is that the range of clients we work for continues to grow as do the genres – alongside our science and history shows we’re now firmly established as a producer of lifestyle programming for example.”
