Naomi Campbell takes her Face to Foxtel
Supermodel Naomi Campbell is to executive produce an Australian version of her modelling competition format The Face, which Shine Australia will produce.
The format is set for a run on pay TV provider Foxtel’s FOX8 channel in 2014, with Campbell set to both exec and head up the production.
Campbell helmed in the first version of the Shine America-created format, which Shine Australia produced for US cable channel Oxygen. That launched in February and was followed by a UK version for pay TV channel Sky Living, which also features Campbell and launches next month.
Shine Australia is currently looking for models aged between 18 and 30 to feature in the series, in which Campbell and two currently unnamed supermodel mentors will attempt to find a model to become the face if a major Australian brand.
“I’m looking forward to working with Foxtel and Shine Australia in bringing The Face to Australia. Having found amazing girls in America and the UK, I can’t wait to see what talent Australia has to offer,” Naomi said from the set of The Face in New York.
“The show is a real insight into the modelling world – it’s authentic, fast paced, and gives our aspiring models a taste of what it is really like,” she added. “We’re trying to find contestants who have the whole package – a beautiful face, great body, unique look, confidence, drive and passion, the ability to change and transform, a willingness to follow direction, and, above all, a strong work ethic.”
“Having such a dynamic personality at the helm of this exciting new format will generate huge buzz for Foxtel, and further illustrates our commitment to developing unique and compelling content for our customers,” said Foxtel’s executive director, television, Brian Walsh.
Shine International sells the format on the international market.
