Tim Kring joins Sonar board
Heroes creator Tim Kring is one of two new board members for US production and distribution company Sonar Entertainment.
Kring began working with Sonar earlier this year on a new multi-platform project called The Drake Equation. He and former Warner Bros. and Paramount Digital president Tom Lesinski have now joined the company’s board.
Kring is best known as writer and executive producer of Heroes and also worked on series such as Touch, Crossing Jordan and Providence. Earlier this year he told TBI he was looking at developing an international scripted format for the US market.
“Both Tim and Tom are proven leaders with a wealth of experience that will allow them to provide Sonar with critical creative and strategic direction,” said Sonar chairman Gabriel de Alba. “We welcome Tim and Tom to our leadership team and we look forward to their valuable input.”
“I am thrilled to be offered this opportunity to help further guide the company and to be in a position to contribute perspective and vision for its future direction,” added Kring. “Sonar has a tremendous upside and I am excited to be a part of the decision-making process going forward.”
Sonar was borne out of Robert Halmi’s RHI Entertainment, following a period in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The firm restructured in 2012 and relaunched under the new moniker, with Stewart Till as CEO.
