CBeebies launches Playtime app
UK pubcaster the BBC has launched an app to accompany a range of shows on its preschool channel CBeebies.
The CBeebies Playtime app works on Apple and Android devices. It allows parents to create profiles for kids and they can collect rewards for progressing in a range of games themed around key shows on the UK digital kids channel.
At launch there will be four games, based on The Octonauts (pictured), Alphablocks, Mr Tumble and Tree Fu Tom. They have been developed to build number, word, drawing and movement skills among preschoolers.
New games will be launched based on the Sarah and Duck and Tiny Tumble shows as well as upcoming animated series Tee and Mo.
“We know that our audience want to interact with CBeebies on the go, and we’re delighted to launch CBeebies Playtime on such a wide range of devices,” said Patrick Healy, head of product for BBC Children’s. “The app has been designed to be as accessible and secure as possible, allowing all young children to get the most out of the app, whilst giving parents the assurance and level of control they need.”
