Dome stays in place at CBS
US broadcast network CBS has renewed its high rating miniseries Under the Dome for a second run.
The Stephen King-created series will return for a second 13-episode run on the back of strong ratings this summer. It is currently averaging more than 13.8 million viewers, including pulling in a strong performance in the vital 18-49 demo.
The serialised show, from Amblin Television and CBS Studios Television, follows a US community that is one day trapped under a huge, impenetrable dome.
King, who wrote the book that the series is based on, will pen the second season’s debut.
“We’re excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester’s Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season,” said CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler.
