Telemundo making first Spanish-language Top Chef
NBCUniversal-owned US Hispanic network Telemundo is making a Spanish-language version of cooking format Top Chef.
The NBCU-distributed format is on NBCU cable net Bravo in the US. Telemundo will make a celebrity version Top Chef: Estrellas (Top Chef Stars).
The show will be made by Magical Elves, which also makes the English-language Top Chef. When it launches on Telemundo, it will mark the first time a US Hispanic net has transmitted a cooking competition in primetime.
It will be fronted by telenovela star Aylin Mujica and feature eight Hispanic celebrities as they compete for a US$100,000 prize for a charity of their choice.
“Top Chef: Estrellas is an innovative television concept that blends the best of Bravo’s successful Top Chef franchise with the intense passion our audience has for their favorite stars,” said Daniel Cubillo, VP content development, non-scripted at Telemundo.
