OWN buys Kate and Wills Royal Baby doc
OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has acquired one-off doc William, Kate and the Royal Baby, as one of a number of deals distributor Zodiak Rights has secured.
With Kate Middleton set to give birth to a child this summer, OWN has taken the show, which comes from CB Productions and was produced for France 3.
In other Zodiak deals, National Geographic Channels International has acquired broadcast rights to Heaven’s Gate, a one-hour special from Pan Pacific Entertainment that follows a pair of wing-suit pioneers attempting to fly through a Chinese mountain cave called Heaven’ Gate.
In the US, PBS’s science strand NOVA has cought local broadcast rights to WW1 Top Gun: Revealed, which comes from Bedlam Productions (The King’s Speech).
In Canada, gay and lesbian-themed channel OUTtv has acquired the8x30mins In the Big House, which follows recently paroled mobster ‘Big Lou’ Verdi ad he moves in with his daughter and her West Hollywood family.
Shaw Media has gone for a 30-hour package deal including seasons of Hardcore Pawn, Lizard Lick Towing and A Place in the Sun US. They will air on Shaw nets ACTION and HGTV from September.
Bell Media has also gone for a package agreement, comprising shows such as Beverly Hills Pawn, Rehab with Dr. Drew, Switch and Being Human.
Finally, Corus Entertainment has acquired the 10c60mins Tough Love New Orleans.
