Saban Brands appoints ex-Viggle CEO as COO
Power Rangers owner Saban Brands has appointed Janet Scardino to the role of COO.
Scardino, who exited social TV firm Viggle last September, will join LA-based Saban to oversee its media operations across television, digital and games. She’ll also work closely on content distribution and ad sales for the firm’s properties, which include brands such as Power Rangers, Paul Frank, The Playforge, Digimon and Julius Jr.
Scardino will work closely with Saban Brands’ president Elie Dekel and CFO William Kehoe on growth opportunities.
Janet’s impressive achievements in television, digital media and technology make her a strong addition to our team as we continue our expansion globally,” said Dekel, to whom Scardino reports. “Janet brings proven experience and results in developing successful media brands and forging strategic relationships with our distribution, advertising and retail partners.
Scardino most recently oversaw Viggle’s move into social TV. Before that, she was president, branded entertainment at American Idol producer 19 Entertainment. She has also held roles such as managing director of Disney Channel in Italy and programming roles at several MTV channels.
