The channel is getting its own version of Global Agency-distributed format Shopping Monsters, which will launch next month on June 10 in a daily 16.25 slot. It will be known locally as Les Reines du Shopping (Shopping Queens).
Hervé Hubert, the French entertainment producer behind the local versions of shows such as Wheel of Fortune, 1 vs 100 and The Price is Right, is attached to produce the series.
The Shopping Monsters format sees five women competing over a week to see which can get the best makeovers in a limited period of time and on a fixed budget. At the end of the week, the highest scoring woman wins a cash prize.
In Turkey, the show has run for more than 500 episodes on Kanal D, while in Germany there have been more than 250 on VOX. It has also broadcast locally in Bulgaria on TV7, Ukraine on K1 and Russia on CTC.
Izzet Pinto, CEO of Global Agency, said: “Hervé has been a longtime fan of Shopping Monsters, and has worked tirelessly to get it on air in France. We’re delighted he’s now done so, and I’m sure the show will be the perfect fit for M6’s schedules, both this summer, and over the coming years.”
