Israeli format Raid the Cage gets Turkey, Peru remakes
Sony Pictures Television has sold Israeli game show format Raid the Cage to broadcasters in Turkey and Peru. The show has also secured a second season in Israel.
SPT has secured deals with Turkey’s ATV and Peru’s America TV. Chinese channel Jiangzu TV launched its version earlier this year. Further deals in Europe and Latin America are expected to be confirmed shortlly, while options have been taken in Scandinavia, Ireland and Spain.
Meanwhile, Reshet, which runs Israeli network Channel 2 along with Keshet, has given producer United Studios of Israel the greenlight to go ahead with a second run after the first increased its Friday night slot average by 42%, according to the producer. Season one ended last week.
The format is billed as an “action-packed game show in which couples complete trivia and physical challenges in order to haul prizes from a gigantic cage before the doors slam shut”. It comes from Shy Barmeli, Tal Berman and United Studios.
Erez Benharosh, Reshet VP of programming described the format’s origin story as a “continuation of Israel’s foothold as a world exporter of formats”.
United Studios’ co-CEO Efrat Dror said the prodco “will continue the momentum of developing original formats for the local and international market”.
