The Voice app launches

The BBC has launched a companion app for the second season of singing competition show The Voice.

The Voice Predictor game, which is available now to download for iOS and Android, will build on the BBC’s recently launched Antiques Roadshow second screen app, and offer play-along and between-show games.

The BBC said a ‘Team Predictor’ play-along game will let viewers guess in real time which coach contestants on the show will choose to be mentored by.

Between broadcasts, an ‘Audition Predictor’ will let users hear six exclusive audio clips of artists from the upcoming episode, so that they – like the judges on the show – can decide on voice alone who will progress to the next round.

The BBC said that the app would also be adapted for battles, knockouts and live stages of the series.

“We’re always looking for exciting new ways to expand the viewer’s experience beyond TV. Building on the success of the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow guess the value game, The Voice Predictor will be an exciting way for people to increase their enjoyment of the show,” said BBC online exec Sarah Clay.

The game is part of a wider social push for this series of the show, which is due to return to BBC1 on March 30. Season two will also be accompanied by a Voice live blog, a highlights package of content and a presence on Tumblr, Instagram and Pintrest.
