Hit secures Mike, Thomas sales

Broadcasters in Asia and Australasia have acquired more than 100 hours of Hit Entertainment’s children’s programming, including deals for Mike the Knight and Thomas & Friends.

Among the deals secured by Hit’s Hong Kong office, Disney Junior in south east Asia and Hong Kong has snapped up season one of CGI series Mike (52x11mins). New Zealand state broadcaster TVNZ has also bought the show for its TV2 channel, along with season eight of Fireman Sam.

In Australia, ABC has acquired the latest Thomas feature, Blue Mountain Mystery (1x60mins), and season eight of Fireman Sam. Vietnam’s HTV3 has bought all 16 seasons of Thomas & Friends and seasons one to eight of Fireman Sam.

The news comes after Mattel-owned Hit earlier this month appointed Turner Broadcasting System EMEA’s chief content officer and former CBeebies’ controller Michael Carrington to become head of content and production for Hit Global Brands.
