Hulu and City order Eva Longoria animated series
US digital service and Canadian broadcaster City have ordered Mother Up!, an animated series for grown-ups starring Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives).
Production has just started on the 13x30mins series, which is being made by Canadian producers Breakthrough Entertainment and Bardel Entertainment with US-based Mass Animation.
The show will debut in the US on Hulu and its subscription service Hulu Plus and Canada in City’s primetime this autumn.
Longoria will voice an animated version of herself and exec produce the series, which follows a former high-powered music executive turned suburban mum.
Breakthrough Entertainment will sell the series internationally. It has some experience in the genre having produced and distributed Producing Parker, the animated show featuring Kim Catrall (Sex & the City), which has run to two season on Canadian specialty channel TVtropolis..
“Mother Up! combines famed Hollywood actor, director and producer Eva Longoria with the comedic genius of writers Michael Shipley, Greg Lawrence, Mark McKinney, Laurie Elliott and Jenn Engels and the development, production and animation talents of Mass Animation, Bardel Entertainment and Breakthrough Entertainment,” said Ira levy, executive producer and partner at Breakthrough Entertainment.
