Shine making drama about rock band INXS
Shine has been commissioned to make Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS, a two-part drama about the Australian rock band.
Australian free-to-air broadcaster Network Seven has ordered the series, which will be Shine Australia’s first move into drama.
The series will follow the story of the band and particularly lead singer Michael Hutchence, who died in 1997.
It will feature actors playing key figures in the life of Hutchence and the band including Kylie Minogue, Helena Christensen, Bono and Paula Yates.
The drama will be filmed in Melbourne next year.
Shine Australia boss Mark Fennessy will executive produce the show. He said: “This is a truly special project for us. There is no doubt the life of INXS is a compelling and extraordinary one and together with our partners Seven Network, Screen Australia plus contributions from Chris and the band we will tell the real story – true to the phenomenon, to the era and of course to INXS with all the very best and very worst moments.
